I’m not really one for Easter, but I couldn’t let this Easter Monday pass without taking the opportunity to post…well, we’ll get to that…
Śmigus Dyngus (pronounced SHMEE-gooss DIN-gooss), which is sometimes described as Wet Monday, is a Polish tradition of pouring water as a symbol of cleansing, purification, and fertility.
In the past boys would pour perfumed water on the girls, but nowadays it mostly consists of you walking down the road to visit family dressed in your best get-up and some teenage w*nker pouring a bucket of cold water on you or a family member p*ssing you off first thing in the morning with their made-in-china water gun.
Anyway, far be it for me to tamper with tradition, so let’s celebrate Wet Monday the best way I know how: with a round of Wet Armitage!
Ladies, buckets at the ready and douse at will!
(don’t worry, I hear he doesn’t mind getting a bit wet…)
Happy Śmigus Dyngus!
LOL, wet Monday. Nice idea. For all the wrong reasons.
It wasn’t me! I just stuck Richard in the centre of a Polish tradition 😉
Chucking it down here so lots of water on hand. Now all I need is RA 😉
I told him to start making his rounds as the Dibley Easter bunny! Has he not been round your house yet? Oh Richard… 😉
Water as a symbol for purity and cleansing I get. But fertility? A glass of Pinot would do a better job IMHO. But wet RA has about the same effect. 😉
Regarding fertility, I was going to go down the: “depends what you do in a hot tub” route, but I’m going to keep it classy and focus on the Armitage wet T-shirt competition 😉
Another excuse to see wet RA on other days apart from the tRAditional Wet Wednesdays. But then again, you don’t need an occasion to specifically see wet RA 😉
Any excuse, right? 😉 I especially like the Lucas in the pool image- boy, does that denim stick LOL!
Hmm z mokrym Rysiem Śmigus Dyngus wygląda znacznie lepiej 😉 Dzięki Agzy 🙂
Lepiej niż ja jak zmoczona kura 😉
What a wonderful way to start the day !! Thank you!! 😉
Aren’t you starting a rainy season? I’ll send Richard round while you get the camera 😉
Actually the dry season is just around the corner, what makes a wet Richard even more perfect!!! 😀
Well, then we shall have to continuously douse him with water so he doesn’t dry out 😉
LOL
He’s not the only one getting wet.
🙂
Love! Why am I only hearing about this now?
I kept it well hidden for the perfect moment when we’ll need more wet Richard 😉
