It’s curtains for RA Silent Auction 2013

Richard Armitag Silent Auction big

I can finally announce the end of the Richard Armitage Silent Auction 2013 event.

I’d like to thank all the people who donated items, bid, made direct donations, reblogged, retweeted and so on, for taking part!

Almost all the items found new homes and I hope they are making their way to the winners as we speak (or in our case I type and you read).

When I first came up with the idea for the auction, I thought auctioning off 10 items and raising  100 GBP would be great.

I’m so happy to announce that we have exceeded my expectations many times over.

The final tally for RA Silent Auction is:

RA Silent auction tally

Yup, that’s 668,62 GBP!

The funds raised during the silent auction are being transferred to a Richard Armitage Just Giving charity that you chose in the poll:

Unfortunately due to a limit as to the amount I can transfer in one go, I have separated it into separate operations, the first 3 were already completed on Monday for the sum 350GBP.

The additional 338,62GBP will be transferred today 🙂

I hope that the money we have raised will help offer assistance to children in distress.

If you’d still like to contribute to the Richard Armitage charities, you can participate in the Just Giving Back Fundraiser.

From now through December 15th you can make a donation as way of thanking Richard for his wonderful work and to celebrate the premiere of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.

I know I’ve said it before, but the RA Community of Armitage Admirers is an incredibly generous bunch!

I can’t tell you how much it warms the cockles of my (frozen) heart that you reacted so positively to my idea.

Thank you to Magzy, Guylty, Serv and Arky for their assistance when I was ironing stuff out and needed someone to bounce ideas off and hold my hand.

I’m very thankful that all of you took the time to contribute and who knows, maybe the RA Silent Auction will become an annual event  🙂

It turns out that I have to verify the Paypal account before I can make any other transfers as I’ve reached “the annual limit” 😦

I’m doing my best to fix this as soon as possible, but I probably won’t deal with the issue till I’m back from London on Monday, so the last transfer won’t be through till then.

Bear with me, the money is safe and waiting to find it’s way to the ChildLine account.

As way of thanking those who have contributed to the RA Silent Auction, either by donating and bidding, or commenting, reposting, retweeting, reblogging,  I have also prepared a giveaway where you can get your hands on this Thorin Bookmark.

The author Trudy Brasure needs no introduction to the avid North and South fans.

Trudy has donated a paperback copy of her N&S continuation A Heart for Milton: A Tale from North and South.

When Margaret Hale hastily rejected the wealthy industrialist’s fervent marriage proposal, she could not have foreseen the events that would lead her to change her mind and open her heart. But was it too late now to let the handsome, brooding mill owner know? Based on the novel North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, this book weaves a change near the end of the original plot to create a romantic continuation of an enduring love story.  A Heart for Milton brings to life all of Gaskell’s rich characters: Nicholas Higgins, Hannah Thornton, Henry Lennox, Mr. Bell, and others. But at its core, this tale unfolds the joy, hope, passion, and fulfillment of the love forged between John Thornton and Margaret Hale as the reader follows their journey through the uncertainties of their engagement to the trials encountered in their first year of marriage …and beyond.

I am also adding a Thornton bookmark, although I guarantee you won’t want to put this book down till you’re done.

This metal bookmark is bronze-coloured and features our dashing mill owner under a cabochon.

You are bidding on both items together.

No minimum bid.

RASA banner 905

If you are already a fan of Trudy Brasure’s writing, this item is an extra special treat.

She has donated a copy of her brand new book In Consequence.

The book isn’t out of print yet and you will receive a copy hot off the press mid December.

The winner of this auction will literally be one of the first people to get their hands on the book!

Trudy is very hush hush about the details of the plot, but if her previous book is anything to go by, this one will be a corker!

No minimum bid.

RASA banner 906

Apart from the silent auction there will also be a poll to determine which RA JustGiving charity the RA Silent Auction funds will go to.

There will also be a raffle for all of those who bid, comment, retweet, repost, reblog and are generally refabulous (not a real word…), with the chance to win an RA goodie.

If you wish to contribute to the RA Silent Auction Fund, but will not be taking part in the bidding, I have established a Donate button on the side.

Please state clearly that this is a donation and not a payment for an auction item.

Richard Armitage Silent Auction Coming Soon!

Richard Armitag Silent Auction big

Dear Friends,

There’s been something I’ve been mulling over, seeking advice about, and trying to figure out the logistics of in the past few weeks and today I can finally share the news with you.

I’ve decided to organise a Richard Armitage Silent Auction from the 29th of November till December 1st.

What’s this mysterious being, you may ask…

Well, the  auction will feature a number of goodies (many, but not all are RA related) that you can bid on via email (hence the silent part).

I will be posting the rules and guidelines shortly, but let me just outline the basic idea.

A bunch of items will appear in a post on the 29th of November.

if you wish to bid on a specific one, you are asked to send me an email with your bid, with the closing date being Sunday Dec. 1st.

The person who bids the highest wins.

Here’s the best part: ALL of the money raised goes to an RA charity that will be chosen by Armitage Admirers based on the results of a poll that shall be up throughout the auction.

The RA Silent Auction means that you will not only be able to get your hands on some pretty amazing items, but you’ll also be contributing towards a worthy cause.

RA Silent auction b&w

I will be writing more about the auction closer to the date, but today I’m looking for generous and kind-hearted people to contribute items that can be auctioned off.

And when I say items, your imagination is the limit 🙂

If you would like to donate anything, or help in any way, please email me at RASilentAuction [at] or at my usual email address.

You can also leave a comment and I will get in touch with you shortly.

And a HUGE thank you to those who have already answered my  plea and have pledged awesome stuff for the auction or have offered their advice, assistance and wisdom 🙂

So, get your thinking caps on, start rummaging through your stuff, pull out the old DIY/ arts & crafts box,  and put aside a few pennies for the auction!
