Welcome to Armitageopolis!

Welcome to Armitageopolis!

It’s the place ruled by thoughts of RA.

A place where eager fans can gather and share thoughts and dreams.

Where every RA role, gesture, picture, and quote is analyzed.

 Where creativity flourishes.

And people from all over the world find a common interest.

 Welcome to Armitageopolis!

Armitage Poll Results

It’s time to round up the polls that have popped up in the past couple of weeks in separate posts 1 and.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the different polls, your participation is what makes it FUN!!!

Let’s start off with the SNOG:

It turns out that Lucas North is the most snogable RA character, with 38.24%

In second place we have John Thornton, with a little over 20%.

I think that perhaps a little railway station platform lip and tongue extravaganza may have had something to do with the results.

The character we would like to MARRY is Harry Kennedy, with a whooping 50%.

It’s nice to see he had gained your favour despite being an accountant. I bet it has something to do with those  jumpers.

Harry kennedy jumper

John Thornton came second, with a little over 26%.

This means a few of you wouldn’t mind getting physical with Miltons finest, but aren’t interested in making an honest man out of him.

Paul Andrews and Thorin Oakenshield  are the ones you’d DISS, each earning 36,36%!

I guess we just don’t like them super hairy and wearing socks in bed.

Another poll asked you which WET & WILD Armitage character brightens up your day or rocks your boat.

Your top answer- Lucas North, with 86%.

I was a bit unfair as I included the wet jeans pic, smashing the competition to pieces!

I also asked who, in you opinion is the MOST ABUSED Armitage character.

The winner- John Porter!

He received 45.45% of your votes, leaving the rest behind.

I also asked you who was THE FIRST RA character that caught you in the Armitage web.

Most of you have similar experiences as me, with dashing John Thornton sweeping you off your feet and changing your life for ever (over 72%)!

Thank You to all who participated!

Obsessing about Armitage with a group of like-minded  nuts makes it so much fun 😉

Coming up to my First RA Admiration Anniversary

As anniversary’s go, this may not be a big one.

It did however set many wheels in motion and since then I  have done and experienced things I never thought I would.

I write about the first time I saw North & South here.

The pattern I followed is similar to many other RA fans out there.

My best bud gave me the N&S DVD in February, I waited till late June to watch it. After the first 15 minutes I was hooked.

 And I mean HOOKED!

This lead me to my online search for info I so badly craved.

What I found was quite surprising. I had never before read blogs, but here was a group of witty, insightful bloggers, a small community of friends.

I cannot lie, I lurked for many months.

Perhaps this came from the fear of being rejected by a community that seem quite close-knit.

I didn’t really start commenting until I started my own blog.

I have since written many other N&S posts about John Thornton’s brows, Fanny and those pig heads you should be on the look out, to name a few.

I have taken part in Fanstra3.

But most importantly, I have met so many wonderful people from all four corners of the world.

Dear reader- both lurker and commenter!

I am so grateful to you for taking a moment from your busy day to pop into this little neck of the internet woods.

A huge Thank You to those who retweet info about my posts, although I don’t say it often enough!

It’s your participation in this crazy blog process that makes it so much fun 😉

I owe you, Mr. Thornton BIG TIME!

I plan on writing a post thanking the bloggers who quenched my RA thirst in the first months of my obsession (lets call it what it is…)

How did you get hooked on RA?

Pig Heads in Milton or why I’m RA Blue…

I’ve been feeling a bit “whatever” about being an RA fan in recent days…

Before I get bombarded, let me explain why.

I was hoping that by this time SOMETHING, ANYTHING Armitage had done during the Christmas break would have popped up by now.

Here’s Easter around the corner and there’s just nothing.

Excuse me,but how many Christian holidays are we expected to wait for something juicy?

So, I’ve decided to do as RA did during the Peter Jackson Vlog 6

Courtesy of Richard Armitage Alter Ego, I’ve mentioned this page before, its super funny!

I’m just going to turn around, Mr. A and I’m going to write a post on…

The pig heads parked in front of the Hale residence in Milton!

So, pig heads in a cart on a busy Victorian street in Milton is the topic of my post!

This is what I feel I have been reduced to!

Please feel free to ignore the centre of the picture and turn your focus on the right hand side.

Ever since I watched North and South for the first time, I have been playing a game of “spot the pig heads”.

They seem to be parked there  in quite a few scenes.

It is unclear whether they are there because the local butchers conducts his business on the opposite side of the Hale house, or whether this is indeed the same batch all through the episodes, that has been abandoned or going through some strange Victorian meat pickling process.

I’m no meat specialist, if fact I’m a vegetarian, but I doubt the Milton smog would really smoke them to a satisfactory level.

My guess is the BBC prop department found them and stuck them in the shot for authenticity, hoping to get their moneys worth.

Maybe we would be able to find these in Pride and Prejudice or Doctor Who?

The proximity of the pig heads to the coffin has me a little nervous, but perhaps it’s a Milton thing…

I’m afraid to research online what a Victorian lady would do with a pig head, what fine dishes she would prepare.

I’m sure it was yummy…

Armitage whets our appetite and reads North & South 2

One more clip of RA reading a small part from North & South.

I want more!!!

Mr. Armitage, pretty please?

Armitage whets our appetite and reads North & South 1

I adore North & South

I adore Richard Armitage reading.

Why, Oh Why weren’t the two properly  combined?

Here is an excerpt, which is too short, but amazing nonetheless…

On how North & South ends…

As my good deed for the day, I lent my copy of North & South to a friend.

Before you Awww! over how wonderful I am, I did wait until I ordered a more jazzed up version of the DVD before letting the old one out of my hands…

I just couldn’t imagine not having it in my possession for a week and so… But this is not the place or the time to talk about THAT issue…

I couldn’t wait for her feedback, when it came it was quite unexpected.

She was disappointed!

Oh shock, oh horror, how could that be?

Does this do nothing for you?

Nor this?

What about this?

I was just about to question my buddy’s sanity and the validity of our friendship when she continued:

I didn’t like the ending!

I’m sorry, what now?

I didn’t like the ending, he proposed, she rejected him. The ending was disappointing!

Oh, I sighed.

The fog had lifted.

That silly willy had watched the first disc only and DIDN’T pop in the second!

So for those who have made that mistake (I really hope there aren’t many of you around) let me reassure you: N&S does have a happy ending, the storyline of the strike is explained and resolved and it gets a lot worse for everyone before it gets much better.

So do not pause until you have reached the famous:

 “Look back at me”

Do not stop until you’ve heard:

You‘re coming home with me?

Oh, heck, let’s revisit it again…

I believe I have seen hell and it’s white, it’s snow-white.

I don’t know about you, but it’s close to -30 C which is about -22 F in my neck of the woods

We’ve had snow and frost…

I wake up in the morning and think with a shudder that I have to abandon a bed I’ve spent the last 8 hours heating up…

Margaret says it best:  I wish I could tell you how lonely I am. How cold and harsh it is here.

Everywhere there is conflict and unkindness.

I think God has forsaken this place. I believe I have seen hell and it’s white, it’s snow-white.

To remedy the frost I intend to keep myself warm with a nice cup of tea, happy thoughts and a few hours with…

RA- why me? why he?

March 12-18

This year I will be taking part in FanstRAvaganza as a tag-team blogger. If you are unfamiliar with this event, it is a chance for bloggers and admirers come together in an explosion of creativity in order to celebrate the wonder of RA and, in essence, us!

I must admit I am really excited about being a part of such an event and have been brainstorming ideas and bugging creative friends. I plan to use (and abuse) them for my own amusement, as well as my fellow FanstRAvaganza participants.

I am having some mini panic attacks from fear of not being able to come up with something entertaining for the event. I think this derives from the fact that since entering the world of RA I have encountered a ridiculous amount of incredibly witty, intelligent and well-educated Ladies, who have some of the funniest, most insightful blogs  ever! No pressure!

I raise my glass to you Ladies!

My first brush ( don’t I mean thunderbolt?) with RA came when a friend of mine gave me a collection of DVD’s with BBC costume dramas. I bow my head in shame and admit it was given to me in February and yet I didn’t watch it till the summer.

I lived in ignorance, believing that Mr Darcy, played by Colin Firth in the BBC Pride & Prejudice, was  the absolute costume drama hottie ever.

Oh how wrong I was.

I must admit that just as Margaret wasn’t impressed by Thornton beating up his employee, neither was I. I tutted that a gentleman would never do a thing like that.

Within 30 minutes I was frantically texting and ringing my friend, thanking him for the gift he had provided. Mr Darcy had been dethroned.

Mr Thornton had arrived.

Here are some little tidbits regarding me, North & South and RA:

1. After watching N&S the first time, I went straight to the beginning and rewatched it. Than I watched again the next day. Then the next.

2. I’m not a big fan of the final scene at the train station. I think it’s a bit out of character and I always think they didn’t really sit around on platforms making out in Victorian times. Perhaps if they did, they wouldn’t look so miserable.

3. I definitely prefer the Thornton Family to the Hale’s. Fanny is simply hilarious. I really like the energy between John and his mother. Why shouldn’t she be proud of her son? It reminds me of a saying: Women raise their sons to be their dream men. It seems that is just what Mrs Thornton did- she raised her son to be everything her husband wasn’t, and what a good job she did.

4. I find Higgins cute, in a teddy bear kind of way.

5. I always cry when Bessy dies and wish Margaret would have done the same ( cried, not died).

6. In the proposal scene RA’s face is partially covered by a shadow that distorts his features, which annoys me, because the man has perfect features.

Oh, and I want to punch Margaret for rejecting him so harshly.

7. I am always on the look out for the pig heads parked in front of the Hale residence. They did really want to get their money’s worth from that prop. LOVE the pig heads!

8. My sister refers to RA as “The Dude” and says he looks like Wolverine ( I presume she means Hugh Jackson). She can call him whatever she wants, as long as she calls him mine…

Having said that, she has watched N&S and Spooks 7-9 and enjoyed it. Mwahaha!

10. He can bring me a basket of fruit any day!

11. I am currently listening to Lords of the North audiobook. I admit I left it for last as I wasn’t that interested in the whole Saxon, Danish, Viking malarkey. Boy, was I wrong. I laugh, I cry, I tell random (uninterested) people about plot twists and witty banter.

12. I have never seen Robin Hood and RA playing Guy. I must admit every time it was on telly I switched it over as I didn’t fancy the actor playing Robin. I shall regret that till the end of my days ( or till I purchase the DVD set, whichever comes first).

There you have it! I am officially out as an RA admirer!
