Five Days of New Year’s Resolutions (before it all fizzles out…)

joke 4

So much has been said about changes in the past few weeks, but I think it’s an inevitable part of life and our little RA community of friends is no different.

I’ve made some resolutions for blogging and being part of the Armitage world and have been working hard to strike while the iron is hot (very much like Thorin banging on that sword only with less impressive muscles).

I’ve often spoken about doing my bit to get help the flow of information.

We had a grand old chin-wag this summer brainstorming different ways to give bloggers their dues, to show them our support and love.

joke 1

As most New Year’s resolutions are broken and forgotten after just 5 days, I’ve decided to use that time wisely.

I started out by updating the blogroll on the right which features RA-related blogs.

I think I’ve done a good enough job, but I can already see one or two inactive links.

If there’s a blog I’ve omitted please leave the link in comments and I will update.

For logistic reasons this list does not feature Tumblr blogs.

joke 2

There’s one BlogSpot/Blogger feature that WordPress doesn’t posses and that is a blogroll that indicated when new posts pop up.

This is what it looks like:

Blogspot blogroll

That’s why I have created iwanttobeapinup.BlogSpot.com for the sole purpose of taking advantage of this snazzy feature.

This way I (and, if you bookmark this page, you!) can stay on top of all the RA goodies that are posted (yup, I’m feelin’ like a boss…)

joke 3

I won’t be posting there, but you are more than welcome to use the list as a cheat-sheet.

Again, if I have omitted any RA/semi-RA blogger please let me know.

The next big step is this Saturday so I hope you’ll be back to see what I’ve been up to 🙂

I’m thinking an Arty Farty Friday tomorrow?

More Hobbit Funnies on a Silly Sunday

I can’t help finding these very funny!

I especially like the Sherlock reference, because, if you remember, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are both evolved with The Hobbit.

I hope everyone has a laugh and a giggle on this Silly Sunday 🙂

A Mixed Bag on a Whining Wednesday

I can’t believe this is already my 3rd Whining Wednesday.

I’m still going strong, although I’ve decided to ditch the scale, as it’s bringing me down!

I’ve really taken to this healthy lifestyle, so you can imagine how it feels when that bloody scale tells you you’ve gained 0,5 kg!

I feel I’m losing weight in my clothes, and I don’t need a stinkin’ machine to tell me otherwise 🙂

I’ve also introduced small changes like drinking a glass of water with 2 tablespoons of apple vinegar in the morning (through a straw as not to damage your teeth enamel) and walking to the shops instead of taking the car.

Today I wanted to share with you my absolute favorite vegan dinner.

I know some people feel like they are carnivores therefore can’t imagine dinner without meat.

I think this dish will prove that even vegan food can be very satisfying.

Avocado Pasta

It’s actually our Sunday treat and I hope you enjoy it.

It’s so easy to do, and I guarantee it’s mouth-watering!

This is a great dish for people who’d like to cut down on their meat intake and need a healthy but hearty dish.

For 2 people you will need:

Pasta

I go for whole-wheat penne and I only cook a handful for 2

An avocado or two

As I’m cutting down on out fat intake,  so I’ve reduced the avocado to 1, but you can use more…

I like my avocado ripe

Onions

I use 3 large onions, but you can adjust this based on your taste buds

Garlic

I’m a firm believer in garlic,  so I add 3 or more cloves

Instructions:

Heat a few drops of olive oil in a pan.

Throw in the sliced or diced onions.

I only use a tiny bit of oil, and add water until the onion softens by cooking it on medium heat for about 10 minutes.

It’s a wonderful way to avoid using too much oil.

Salt to taste.

In the meantime dice the avocado.

I usually cut it in half, take the stone out and then scoop small bits using a teaspoon.

Dice the garlic (I like it a bit chunky).

Start cooking the pasta al dente.

Once the onion softens, and the water has evaporated from the onions, add the avocado and garlic and cook for until they soften (just a few minutes).

Add the pasta and combine all the ingredients.

You can add seeds or nuts to give it a crunch.

Enjoy!

By the way, here are some vintage ads that make me wonder why I bother losing weight!

I feel better about myself already!

Tolkien Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Funnies on a Silly Sunday

I find the someecards.com cartoons very funny.

I’m not sure what that says about me, and I think I’d actually care if I wasn’t busy with all the laughing 🙂

Here are some connected with Tolkien films.

Hope you have a wonderful Silly Sunday!

And here are some other funny finds:

Comixed: But He's a Vampire, Guys!

"The Hobbit": A Total "Lord of the Rings" Ripoff

Can you sing, Master Hobbit?

Old Hobbit Joke ... very old ... getting sort of quondam, and creaky - ackshaly!

Cumberbatch to voice Smaug in THE HOBBIT

While I was looking for ecards I came across this story of school kids  from London releasing their own version of The Hobbit months before the official film premieres.

They even splashed out on a CG dragon!

I though this was a lovely story and reminded me of how Richard Armitage mentioned playing an elf when he was at school.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Armitage is a Stranger in Moscow

I really like the thought of Richard Armitage flying over Europe all the way to Moscow to film the seventh episodes of Spooks season 7.

This is my absolute favorite clip of RA as it’s quite casual and candid.

He clearly has a great sense of humour and knows how to charm the ladies.

I’m surprised the woman holding the camera (I read somewhere she was a producer on the show) did so with a steady hand.

I like this clip because it isn’t an official interview, therefore it seems like RA’s guard is down and it gives us an insight into what he might be like on set.

And let me tell you, what I see I like 🙂

By the way, the next time you watch the episodes in Moscow, please notice that, although it is shot with a grey filter and Ross and Lucas are wearing heavy coats, everyone around them is sporting T-shirts and summer dresses.

I understand that spies have many gadgets they need to carry on their person and a weapon to conceal, but surely wearing autumn / winter clothes smack in the middle of summer would make you stick out like a sore sweating thumb 😉

Ah, the (not so well achieved) illusion on television.

Bizarre Ads from back in the Day

It’s been a while since I posted some bizarre vintage ads.

These are from back in the day, from a time when political correctness was a newfangled concept!

Enjoy 😉
