A Mixed Bag on a Whining Wednesday

Posted on

I can’t believe this is already my 3rd Whining Wednesday.

I’m still going strong, although I’ve decided to ditch the scale, as it’s bringing me down!

I’ve really taken to this healthy lifestyle, so you can imagine how it feels when that bloody scale tells you you’ve gained 0,5 kg!

I feel I’m losing weight in my clothes, and I don’t need a stinkin’ machine to tell me otherwise :)

I’ve also introduced small changes like drinking a glass of water with 2 tablespoons of apple vinegar in the morning (through a straw as not to damage your teeth enamel) and walking to the shops instead of taking the car.

Today I wanted to share with you my absolute favorite vegan dinner.

I know some people feel like they are carnivores therefore can’t imagine dinner without meat.

I think this dish will prove that even vegan food can be very satisfying.

Avocado Pasta

It’s actually our Sunday treat and I hope you enjoy it.

It’s so easy to do, and I guarantee it’s mouth-watering!

This is a great dish for people who’d like to cut down on their meat intake and need a healthy but hearty dish.

For 2 people you will need:

Pasta

I go for whole-wheat penne and I only cook a handful for 2

An avocado or two

As I’m cutting down on out fat intake,  so I’ve reduced the avocado to 1, but you can use more…

I like my avocado ripe

Onions

I use 3 large onions, but you can adjust this based on your taste buds

Garlic

I’m a firm believer in garlic,  so I add 3 or more cloves

Instructions:

Heat a few drops of olive oil in a pan.

Throw in the sliced or diced onions.

I only use a tiny bit of oil, and add water until the onion softens by cooking it on medium heat for about 10 minutes.

It’s a wonderful way to avoid using too much oil.

Salt to taste.

In the meantime dice the avocado.

I usually cut it in half, take the stone out and then scoop small bits using a teaspoon.

Dice the garlic (I like it a bit chunky).

Start cooking the pasta al dente.

Once the onion softens, and the water has evaporated from the onions, add the avocado and garlic and cook for until they soften (just a few minutes).

Add the pasta and combine all the ingredients.

You can add seeds or nuts to give it a crunch.

Enjoy!

By the way, here are some vintage ads that make me wonder why I bother losing weight!

I feel better about myself already!

No Mercy Michaels!

Posted on

I have just completed 6 days of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution.

Tomorrow marks my “Sunday”, meaning my day of rest.

I’m feeling really good, so I’m thinking on doing something tomorrow, like Jillian’s Kickbox Cardio.

This may very well be the absolute worst idea I have ever had…

I have done all of the workouts twice.

I really enjoy workout 1, minus the push ups, but it’s better than it was (I’m beating my personal record of 3).

I like workout 2 even more.

Cardio 1- not so much.

I mentioned the limitations with this one: jumping on a hard wood floor and Jillian really kicking your butt. I am modifying some of the moves (please, don’t tell JM) so I’m still jumping up and down, but not pounding on the floor hard.

Any chance cardio 2 will be better?

Don’t think so…

Anyway, I have another week of the same routine, then I will move on to workout 3 and 4.

I’m not following the food plan.

First of all, I don’t eat meat whereas Jillian stated you can eat food “that has a mother or grows in the ground”.

Secondly, the food plan is prepared for the American market and many of the products aren’t available in Europe.

I try to stick to a sensible diet, as I have for the past 3 months.

I will continue to keep you posted :)

Jillian Michaels- Sadist. Me- Masochist…

Posted on

Jillian Michael, I have decided to take your challenge and embark of The Body Revolution.

Yes, I seem to be a masochistic fool!

That’s alright, because Michaels is a bit of a sadist, so this works out perfectly.

Shame I don’t work out perfectly ;)

If you haven’t heard about the system, check it out.

I have already done a few days of Ripped in 30 Days and 30 Day Shred.

Loved it!

But I flaked out, taking a day rest, because I was in so much pain and was walking around like a bow-legged  cowboy.

Then one day turned into a week, then Fanstra 3 hit and excesses came easy.

Now I’m back!

The system is separated into 3 Phases, each lasting a month, 6 days of workout and 1 day of rest.

As I didn’t start on Friday, my rest day will be on Thursday.

Yesterday I did Workout 1 from Phase 1 in the morning (5.30 am) and Cardio 1 in the evening.

This morning I moved on to Workout 2 from Phase 1 and I still have Cardio 1 to do.

 Lucky me…

So, how is it?

Hard, but doable. I am following the easier versions of exercises and not ashamed of it at all.

From the exercises I have tried, Cardio 1 is my least favorite.

I live in a block of flats and jumping up and down on a hard wooden floor would probably send my neighbours to the loony bin, so I’m trying to modify the movements.

And don’t get me started on “suicide run”.

Really, Jillian? REALLY???

But, as always, Michaels delivers exercises that will make you sweat and motivates you to see it through.

How the hell does she know you’re about to quit?

Witchcraft is my guess…

My goal is to loose 10 kg, which is about 22 lbs.

Doable, me thinks.

May the force be with me!

I’ll keep you posted ;)
