Another Dwarven’ Fabulous Birthday!

I’m still here and very much alive.

Work has been very busy the past few weeks and I’ve spent every free moment trying to bring the RA Silent Auction together ready for Friday (yes THIS Friday…. may the freak out commence…).

There are a few things I’d like to share with you, but I figured I’ll write about the nicest one and the rest will keep till after the auction is done with.

By the way, if you’re interested in donating for the auction, please email me at rasilentauction [at] wp.pl

We have some amazing items donated, but I’m greedy and want more 🙂

Dwarf birthday puzzle

Back to the main issue, I’ve written a few times how my family and friends are supportive of my fangirling ways and even end up encouraging them.

I shared with you the amazing birthday cake Magzy designed for me, last year the postman brought me some pretty amazing postcards.

This year my birthday was just as dwavin’ amazing!

It seems that Magzy hit the craft box HARD and came up with  a one-of-a-kind birthday gift!

The adventure started at 8.30 am when I started my quest.

Instead of sweaty dwarves knocking on my door I was handed this lovely box:

SAM_0357

SAM_0359

When I opened it puzzle pieces came out:

SAM_0364

When I put the puzzles together I got this crossword puzzle:

puzzle template small

Unfortunately no clues were attached, so I knew my quest was far from  completed.

A few hours later we met up with my BFF who handed me another box:

SAM_0365

SAM_0366

Inside was another (bloody hard) puzzle to put together:

SAM_0368

I put my Thorin wig thinking cap on and got down to dwarven’ business.

The box consisted of a puzzle that gave me the clues to my previous puzzle:

3

See if you can slay Smaug and guess what the proverbial pot at the end of my birthday rainbow consists of!

The gift is absolutely amazing and a huge THANK YOU to Magzy and her magic fingers (not to mention the rest of her…) for getting crafty and making my B-Day ace!

My Hobbity London Trip Part 1. A not altogether Unexpected Journey

I seriously have so many things I’d like to share with you, I’m overwhelmed where to begin.

I decided to start in the best possible place meaning right at the start.

As some of you may know I got the absolute perfect birthday present this year from my family and friend.

My BFF Max and I started out on our adventure on a frosty Thursday.

The plan was simple: get to London in a timely fashion, unpack at the hotel, freshen up and rush to Leicester Square to meet two of my fellow Armitage Admirers Judit and Linda60 to catch The Hobbit together at the Odeon.

Our two lucky Richardettes had attended the official movie première the day before and I really couldn’t wait to meet them and get the dirt.

The flight was uneventful (and I really don’t want to go into detail on how inappropriate I found the 10 minute patting down at the airport and how I’ve had foreplay with less physical interaction… Oh well, a sign of our times I guess…).

On landing at Heathrow I encountered my first Armitage sighting.

Armitage Shanks that is… spelt across the loo and basin I was using.

As many other Armitage Admirers like Guylty, I was shocked to find myself using a product in some bizarre way connected to our Precious.

I can honestly say though that this was the first, but certainly not the last time I got excited about Richard Armitage in a bathroom.

On our way to the hotel, which is close to Waterloo Station, we passed another reminder of my favorite actor.

I really did scream when we passed The Old Vic, where Richard Armitage appeared in a fund-raising gala on 21st November 2010.

I’ll just say what we’re all thinking: you’ve seriously crossed a line when you actually get excited at a strip of pavement that your beloved actor had walked on a good 2 years before.

There was little time to dwell on the madness though as I had a 3pm appointment with my online friends and fellow Armitage nuts.

I had arranged to meet Judit and Linda60 an hour before the movie, pick up our tickets and pop in for a quick coffee  before catching the film at 4pm.

I was clad in my Thorin-inspired fur collar and Erebor key brooch, looking like a hairy savage American football player 🙂

A lovely surprise awaited me, as it turned out Guylty, also known as the Ooof Girl, a periodic collaborator at me+richard, joined our merry gathering, and I presume that we ended up looking like four slightly mad and overly enthusiastic hobbits leaving the Shire 🙂

My fellow admirers were exactly what I had expected meaning witty, funny, articulate and energetic and Linda60 knew her audience very well as she came bearing a gift of yummy chocolates.

The one thing I did learn that surprised me was when obsessing about Richard time passes just as fast in RL as it does online.

Green is the new red…

Before I knew it, it was time to take our seats and embark on our rather expected Hobbit adventure.

I regret we didn’t spend more time just chatting away, especially that all of us had other plans for our stay and RL friends we shared our London time with.

I honestly could have spent 5 more hours after the movie just chatting, so hopefully next year we’ll get the chance, and I am looking forward to meeting up with more fans next year for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

In my next post I’ll be writing about my Hobbit thoughts as I think most of you have seen it at least once and I won’t be spoiling anything.

23 hours till The Hobbit and Counting…

The Hobbit is so close I can almost taste it 🙂

As I write this post, the countdown on the sidebar says 23 hours before I see the film.

I’ll be heading over to London in a few hours, but before I get on the plane let me share with you some of the ways I’ve been expressing my excitement (besides jumping up and down and overusing the word Yahoooo!)..

Firstly, if you haven’t checked out the fruit of Seba‘s labour of sweet RA love, you simply have to.

BILD4

Get your Hobbit Cookies Here!

He answered my call for someone to test Hobbit cookie recipes, and went above and beyond.

They look super yummy, so head over there for the details and sweeten up your day!

By the way, Seba saw The Hobbit last night, so scoot over to his blog to read about his impressions.

NO SPOILERS, so not to worry!

Dwarves black

I’ve also ordered a few tops with images I’ve been fiddling with, I’m still waiting on them and time is running out.

I’ll be bummed not to have them before London, but not to worry, I still have the Polish film release to look forward to.

I can only hope the T-shirts come out all rights.

The following image was created as a bit of a giggle.

It was inspired by a post about Hobbit merchandise and the My Little Pony Thorin Spa.

Allegro aga_mie 2

I also printed this beautiful image created by Seba at GisbornesBoy on a white T-shirt.

If you head over there, Seba has created a number of versions of this stunning image to suit all tastes.

We’re so lucky that he shares his talent with us!

Allegro aga_mie 3

Last but not least, I found this amazing image at adlpictures.

I love it on so many levels, least of which comparing the dwarf plight with the biblical story, but that’s best left for another day.

I fiddled about with Thorin’s Last Supper by aging it a tad and adding crack and “Dirty Dwarves”.

Allegro aga_mie 4 bluza M

I’ve also mentioned wanting to use my non-existent skills and try making some Hobbity jewelery.

I  decided to make a brooch from Thorin’s Key to Erebor.

I used the key chain that is readily available, although it was a bit too silvery and cheap-looking for my taste.

DSC03078

You have to admit it’s a bit tacky.

I ended attaching the rest of the key chain to my garage keys.

The pin is attached using the playdough-like substance you use to stop a leaking pipe.

One might think that a  hot glue gun would be a better idea, and sure, you’d be right, that is of course if you can find it…

Anyway, my DIY plumbing material worked like a charm 😉DSC03091

Then I used some furniture varnish with golden coloured dust to cover the bright silver.

I tried not to pile it on because I already liked the darker elements of the key and wanted to keep the rustic feel.

I also used a regular crayon to add a bit of rusty looking depth, but I’m not sure it’s all that visible.

Anyway, here’s the final effect and I’m happy 🙂

DSC03095

Talking about visible representations of The Hobbit excitement, the last thing I’d like to mention is the heater in my sisters kitchen.

We use it for magnets and funny notes, so I decided to hang up my birthday card.DSC03098

I turn around and find a note left by my sister Magzy expressing her displeasure with my Armitage expansion tendencies.

That cracked me up, especially her choice of deity she calls upon!

Clearly she’s struggling to get into the Hobbit spirit 😉

DSC03099

Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you on the other side of The Hobbit rainbow 😉

My Nearest and Dearest are Dwarven’ Awesome, and here’s why…

I’d like to start by thanking everyone for their birthday wishes 🙂

I don’t really like to make a BIG fuss around the day, with one exception.

My nearest do not apply and the bigger the fuss the better 🙂

On Armitage Day I shared with you the cake my sister designed for me the previous year, which you can see here.

This year I asked that the calories count be kept low because I have a pair of Hobbit jeans I’s like to squeeze into soon.

I did love the cake from last year and just when I though that was the coolest birthday surprise ever, my family proved me wrong.

This year I got 5 postcards.

OK, it wasn’t only 5 postcards, but for dramatic effect let’s stick to the concept of:

For my birthday I got 5 postcards, one from each member of my immediate family.

And let me tell you, these are the best postcards ever.

Let me explain:

The first card was from my mom.

Well, hello there Captain Armitage.

I salute you!

I feel safer already knowing you’re in the cockpit…

The back of the postcard said, in rhyme:

Translation: My dear, We’re sending you on a long journey, and a flight above Amsterdam. Avoid temptation and don’t inhale any of that Amsterdam ‘mist’.

Prepare your passport and boarding pass, as Captain Richard will fly you out.

Kisses Mom

What I adore about this is that the street name is: On the Way to London St. and the postal code of the address is actually the one for the Warsaw Airport 🙂

The next postcard was from my dad.

That’s one hotel I wouldn’t mind checking into 🙂

Can I ask for extra towels?

On the flip side:

Translation: My dear, it would be nice, if walking around London was pleasant for you, so  we booked a hotel close to the centre for you.

You’ll feel comfortable there like in biblical heaven.

Overlooking your comfort, and this is no joke, is the dedicated concierge Richard.

Kisses Dad.

The next card is from my Sister Dearest.

Now, you can see why this card is close to my heart.

I’m on constant diets and and looking forward to eating Fish&chips almost as much as seeing The Hobbit!

On the back:

I will never let you down Magzy, nor will I let Cook Richard down, therefore Miss Piggy from Piggleton (love it!) promises to stuff her porker face at the local chippy just for you two 🙂

The next card is from my BFF and I just cracked up when I saw Monet as a Beefeater!

I think they may suspect I have a tad of a crush on Richard Armitage, because Max goes on to say:

I’m in the process of getting my name and address legally changed to the one featured on this postcard 🙂

I think it suits me very well!

This is the last card:

It would seem I’m going on and Unexpected Journey of my very own 🙂

Five wonderful postcards that make me suspicious that they may be on to me and have an inkling that I’m a bit partial to Richard Armitage.

I really do wonder what gave it away?

Anyway, it would seem that my dearest are sticking me on board a plane heading towards London via Amsterdam (no promises about the mist though, when in Rome…), I’ll be staying in a beautiful stylish boutique hotel in the centre and Ill get a chance to see The Hobbit 2 weeks before it opens in my country.

BEST. BIRTHDAY. PRESSIE. EVER!

Happy Armitage Day! Make Your Own Armitage Goodie!

I’d like to start by saying a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who’s taken part in Operation Armitage!

Congrats to the winner from yeasterday’s competition!

Just a few words before I move on, though.

First and foremost, Seba, from Gisborne’s Boy, my partner-in-crime!

You did a fab job, and it was such a fun process!

Thanks for sharing your talent with us, you’re a little creative ray of light 🙂

Thanks to my sister Magzy for her constant support, and for not looking at me funny when I get these ideas!

Thank You to the readers and people who commented!

Without you I’d just be an Armitage weirdo posting things online!

It’s the people who visit that breathe life into a blog!

Congrats to the winners!

I hope you enjoy your prize.

If you were not among the lucky ones, remember, you’re always a winner in my eyes!

Before I move on to the main topic of this post, I’d like to present an award.

This gift goes to my most loyal reader, as well as the person who’s left the most comments.

My special ” Friend to IWantTobeAPinUp” award goes to:

She’s long become a fixed feature over here, to the point where I really can’t imagine her not dropping by daily!

This is my way of saying Thank You!

I have a confession to make.

Luciana was one of the winners during the week, however I knew I wanted to single her out individually at the end 🙂

Luciana, you get to choose an image out of the 8 featured during Operation Armitage, and a shopping bag with that picture will be sent to you.

Thank You to all my readers, I’m only sorry I don’t have the means to give each and every one of you a goodie.

So, I’ve settled for second best!

Seba created this stunning image, and I’ve decided to give everyone a chance to create their very own RA goodie!

I’ll be talking you through the process, based on pictures I took when I was creating the competition prizes!

Here is a step-by-step guide!

To transfer this image onto a T-shirt or bag, you will need:

A mirror reflection of the image you want.

This was a bit of a head-scratcher for Seba and me, until Magzy put us out of our misery.

In PSE, just go to Image, Rotate, Flip Horizontal!

A flat fabric surface, like a T-shirt

It’s important that it isn’t grainy or creased.

Iron-on paper for your printer

I got mine online, and an A4 sheet cost under Euro 0.50

I’ve tried different brands, and they are all the same.

What is important is to choose the paper based on the colour of fabric you are applying the image to.

There are 2 kinds I’ve encountered: for white / light and for black backgrounds.

Do yourself a favour and buy a few more than you need, just in case.

An iron, with the steam function switched off

Here’s the mirror reflection of Seba’s Hobbit Picnic:

First, print out your image on the iron-on paper.

Please set to the highest resolution on your printer.

It’s best to follow instructions, however let me give you some advice.

The paper has a blank side, and one that is patterned.

It’s important that you put the paper in the right way.

When you feed the paper in your printer, please check which side is printed on.

Do that by taking a regular blank page, putting a cross on the corner, and printing something tiny.

This will save you the bother of using up your cartridge on printing on the wrong side.

I’m not saying I’ve made that mistake before, but then I’m not saying I haven’t 😉

Let the printout dry.

In the meantime, iron the surface you will be applying the image on.

Let it cool.

Then place the printout in its designated place, and start ironing!

Start from the top and work your way down.

This will prevent any bubbling.

Depending on how large your image is, this can take a few seconds, or up to a few minutes.

Remember to iron the edges and corners well too!

With some brands the patterned side changes colour when the process is complete (check instructions), but ours didn’t, so we just played it by ear.

Let it cool down, and then remove the outer layer with one smooth motion, but be careful not to tear the edges.

There you have it!

It’s as easy as I LUV RA!

If you image is shiny, but you want a more matt finish, simply put a blank sheet of regular paper, and iron that on top of the image for a few seconds.

Remember that the image will fade in the wash, always wash inside out, in maximum 40 degrees, without spinning.

Do not iron the image.

Strong chemicals like bleach will also damage it.

I hope you’ve enjoyed Operation Armitage as much as I have!

It’s been a blast!

4 Days till Richard’s Birthday! Operation Armitage Competition!

Welcome to the countdown to Richard Armitage’s Birthday!

This is Day FOUR of the competition!

Doesn’t time fly…

I’d just like to say how much I’m loving the answers to the competition questions!

I don’t reply to each individually, as not to be accused of favoritism, but some had me crying with laughter!

A huge congratulations to the winners, and hopefully you (yes, YOU) will be one of them after today!

Congrats to the winner of yesterday’s competition!

To read about the rules, please go HERE.

Both Margaret Hale and her cousin doubted the value of cotton.

Today, I prove them wrong with this snazzy cotton shopping bag!

This one-of-a-kind illustration, created by our very talented Seba from Gisborne’s Boy, shows the most handsome that blue, black and orange has to offer!

This set of characters is actually quite appropriate.

Guy tries to do as much damage as he possibly can, Lucas tries to stop him, and the good doctor A ends up picking up the pieces.

Remember that to enter the competition, and get your mitts on this item, please answer the following question in comments.

The question is:

Apart from a bum that just won’t quit, and a body to die for, what else do these characters have in common?

Your answer can be as broad as you like!

Comments close at 12pm GMT tomorrow, when the next opportunity to win an Armitage delight is posted 🙂

Good Luck!

Big Up to Seba, Magzy, and Max’s iPhone!

I hope Ricky remembers not to drink and drive, Guy not to drink and stab, and Lee not to drink and cheat!

What’s more, it’s strange to feel jealous of a lamb 😉

Remember that to enter the competition, and get your beautifully manicured paws on this item, all you need to do is answer the following question in comments, and keep your fingers crossed.

Operation Armitage Birthday starts TOMORROW!

It starts tomorrow!

From Wednesday, for the next 7 days, OPERATION ARMITAGE BIRTHDAY will commence.

In an effort to thank all my lovely friends from the RA Community, I have decided to celebrate the countdown to Richard’s Birthday in a very special way.

You can look at it as my way of saying Thank You for your friendship and support.

To do that, I have enlisted the help of my partner in crime  Seba, from Gisborne’s Boy , and we have endeavoured to make this week special.

A HUGE Thank You to Seba for all his hard work and for sharing his wonderful talent for all of us to enjoy!

If he had known just how hard it would be, I doubt he would have agreed, but I’ll worry about that the next time I get a crazy idea and need his help 😉

Starting tomorrow, 12pm GMT, you ( yes, YOU!) will have the chance to get your hands on a one-of-a-kind Richard Armitage related goodie each and every day for the next 7 days.

As you may have gathered, neither I or Seba mess around, and we’ve put out heart and soul into making the particular items as yummy as possible, and we really hope you enjoy what we’ve come up with.

Horrid as I am, I’m not going to tell you what the goodies are, they will be revealed to you each day.

Here’s how we play the game:

At 12pm GMT on each of the 7 days I will post.

The item up for grabs will be revealed.

These are all one-of-a-kind, so there won’t be any exchanges for other items, and No, you can’t get cash instead 😉

I will ask a question connected with the item.

You leave your answers in the comments section, remembering to sign in with a valid email address and/or twitter account.

At exactly 12pm GMT the next day, as another post is out, I close comments, write all the names from comments on pieces of paper, throw them in a box, and my lucky hand will draw ONE name from the box.

This is the winner of the day!

You may ask why you have to answer the question asked in the post if all the names go into the box.

Well, let’s just say I want you to sing for your supper 🙂

Plus, I love to read your comments!

I will be contacting the lucky winners, so make sure I have the means to do that!

If by the 22nd I can’t get in touch with someone, I will pull out another name from the list from that day.

You are more than welcome to enter your name on multiple days, although the winner will be eliminated from the other draws.

I hope to see you all here tomorrow, 12pm GMT!

Good Luck!

A Trekkie Birthday to MY SIS!

Dearest Magzy,

I wish you a super Trekkie Birthday!

Custom iCal Calendar For Those Special Trek Birthdays

And No, this post isn’t the only thing I’ll give you this year, there will be a pressie 😉

Love you!!!
